The temple is a means to come into His circle, to experience the bliss of His company. Here, there is offered a sequence of steps……

Meanwhile, for Hindu members of the military, Dharm conducts yoga classes and Hindu services, including regular classes on the Bhagavad-gita—India’s foremost sacred text—using ISKCON founder Srila Prabhupada’s translation. For Chaplain Dharm, Lord Krishna’s personable nature makes Him the most attractive form of God. And being in the military, His message in the Gita of doing one’s duty is one she can apply practically in her life all the time. “While the book is of course very sacred to me, since Krishna Himself spoke it, it’s not just scripture—it is also very practical,” she says. “It helps me to stay grounded and to keep doing my duty in the wonderful way Krishna teaches, even when I’m in a situation I may not like. Our first instinct when anything gets difficult in life is often to run. But the Gita teaches us instead to look for what God is trying to tell us through a bad situation, and to think about what we can learn from it.” Read more...

The incident will always be fresh in my mind. I had been a practicing devotee for ten years, eight of which were in the sacred holy land of Sri Dham Mayapur in India. Little did I know that Krishna would be sending me the test of my life, the test of chanting His holy names.

A Seattle eatery that’s celebrating its 10th anniversary this year serves sanctified pure vegetarian food with a difference. It’s completely free. My Sweet Lord, located ten minutes’ walk from the University of Washington in an area populated with student residences, vegan restaurants and arthouse theaters, is a haven for students, drifters, and the homeless youth of Seattle. It all came about when out-of-the-box preacher Hari-Vilasa Dasa, who had been holding weekly programs at a rented room in the University Heights Community Center for many years, decided to look for a more permanent spot in the area. Personal Resolutions... Global Revolutions...
One evening, as we drove over the River Tyne and advanced toward Newcastle City Centre, the enormity of modern civilisation dawned on me; a complex web of flashing lights, billboards, rushing cars, tall buildings and amusement facilities. It made me wonder whether the few hundred books in our car boot would change anything in this bustling city. Was the five-hour journey from London even worth it? Would we do anything of significance while we were here?

Deseret News Dec. 30, 2012
On a recent Thursday night at the Hare Krishna temple in Spanish Fork, a thick wave of incense floats through the air as the chords of a singsong prayer echo off the temple's octagonal ceiling. Underneath a canopy of flowers and lights, a statue of the dark-skinned Krishna and his ivory-skinned wife Radha smile out at the half dozen students sitting cross-legged and bare-footed on the floor. Some sway back and forth to the music, singing along with the words of the prayer while others close their eyes in blissful meditation. The musical ceremony is a chance to offer gifts back to God, the original giver, and is the first portion of the evening's yoga class here. Read more...

Stumbled onto this blog by Greg who wwoofed at the temple mid summer with his girlfriend Jen. Check out the great photos, which I couldn't figure out how to download. "Long story short, there’s this beautiful Krishna temple smack dab in the epicenter of LDS Utah. There’s llamas and peacocks and parrots and chanting devotees in robes and statues of Hindu deities and huge gardens full of tasty organic vegetables. To say the place sticks out like a sore thumb is a bit of an understatement." Read more...
