Hundi webThe Salt Lake Krishna temple, a former elementary school purchased last year, and located at 965 East 3370 South, was violated in the early hours of this morning (3/07/2012) when thieves broke through a back window in the worship area.

The thieves made away with less than $ 100.00, but took the money inside a beautiful hand carved donation box similar to the one pictured here. Krishna devotees are more distressed about the violation of the sacred premises and the theft of the donation box, than the actual monetary loss. If anyone in the community catches sight or hears of this artifact, kindly notify the authorities, or call the Krishna Priest, Caru Das at 801 787-1510.

Monetary donations given to a Krishna devotional community are considered gifts from Lakshmi, the goddess of fortune, who is the eternal consort of the Lord. Donation receptacles, such as the one in question, are regarded as sacred repositories of divine gifts.
