Krishna’s Salt Lake Temple

At the beginning of 2011 the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah, announced a potential major expansion of Krishna Consciousness in Utah.   Our Temple has gone under contract to purchase a 3.72 acre property in the state’s Capitol, Salt Lake City. The property is located near downtown and the University of Utah, ideally situated at 965 East 3370 South.  The property has been used as a school by the Seventh Day Adventists (who are mostly vegetarian) and comprises 12,700 square feet of building, including a spacious gym with a stage, five classrooms, kitchen, offices, and a large free standing building which will be used for a gift shop.

Considering the success of our temple’s mission in the past 20 years in Utah Valley, where 88% of the population are Mormon, we feel confident in predicting more success at the Salt Lake City center – bigger festivals (imagine a Holi on nearly 4 acres of land!), more devotees to join, education for the youth, Sunday school, urban summer camps, a considerably large gift store which will be a fundraiser for the new temple, and more.

The property is well priced at $1,185,000. We request our well wishers and friends to partner with us in this great project by financially assisting in one or more of the following ways. Thanks to our supporters and contributors our proposed down payment based on cash on hand is now $ 400,000. The more we can add to this, the less interest we have to pay to the bank, and more quickly make the needed renovations in the new facility.
