(Verse 1)
Yo, a fire sacrifice, ghee flowing free,
Agni consumed it all, for all eyes to see.
But too much buttery offerings, an overload,
Left the fire god aching, in a heavy, bloated mode.
Indigestion fierce, his brilliance declined,
Only one curative came to his mind.
(Verse 2)
The Khandava forest, with herbs potent and rare,
Held the very essence, to ease Agni’s despair.
Its flora unique, a medicinal store,
The best relief, he could possibly ask for.
But this verdant haven, a showplace
Was Indra’s retreat, his favorite space.
(Verse 3)
Lord of the heavens, where rainclouds convene,
Indra cherished Khandava, its beauty serene.
So whenever Agni, with flames would ignite,
To burn the forest down, and make everything right,
Indra’s fury unleashed, a torrential downpour,
Extinguishing the flames, fires. no more.
Protecting his haven, with thunder and might,
Leaving Agni in torment, and endless night.
(Verse 4)
Frustrated and aching, his power subdued,
Agni sought Krishna, his purpose pursued.
He told of the herbs, the cure he desired,
And Indra’s fierce defense, his efforts backfired.
Krishna listened closely, to Agni’s deep plea,
Knowing the balance, that needed to be.
(Verse 5)
With Sudarshana bright, and Gandiva’s strong string,
Krishna & Arjuna stood by Agni, as the forest would sing
With crackling of flames, herbs consumed by the fire,
Releasing their essence, fulfilling desire.
Indra’s rains descended, a furious attack,
But Arjuna’s arrows, kept the torrents back.
A canopy formed, a shield in the sky,
As Agni consumed, with a satisfied sigh.
(Verse 6)
The pain started fading, his brilliance returned,
The Khandava burned fiercely,Agno over his heartburn
Indra, though angered, his efforts in vain,
Saw Krishna’s protection, amidst the harsh rain.
Agni, now healthy, his fiery form strong,
Thanked the divine duo, it hadn’t taken long
A balance restored, through struggle and strife,
The fire god healed, returned to his life.
(Outro)
When ailments afflict, or obstacles rise,
Seek Krishna’s aid, open your eyes.
For within the grace of Lord Krishna’s embrace,
we find our true place.
Let us be inspired, by Agni’s rebirth,
And remember the wisdom: “Surrender to Krishna, and all will be revealed,” our ultimate worth.
