Achyutam Keshavam Krishna Damodaram, Ram Narayanam Janaki Vallabham
(Verse 1)
Yo, the Vrndavana forest, from rains it improved,
With dates, mangoes, and blackberries, all sweetly approved.
Lord Krishna, the Supreme, with His boyfriends so grand,
And Balarama too, they strolled through the land.
The cows, filled with new grass, so healthy and fat,
Their milk bags were full, no getting ’round that.
When Krishna would call them, by name they would come,
Their affection so pure, from their hearts it would hum.
In their joyful condition, the milk truly flowed,
A loving devotion, in Vrndavan bestowed.
(Chorus)
Krishna felt pleasure, in Govardhana’s sight,
The forest so verdant, a glorious light.
Yamuna’s bank, where the beehives would pour,
Sweet honey a stream, forever and more.
Waterfalls gushing, a beautiful sound,
In Govardhana’s caves, great comfort was found.
(Verse 2)
As rainy season faded, to autumn’s gentle shift,
Sometimes in the forest, a heavenly gift.
Lord Krishna and His friends, beneath a tree they’d sit,
Or deep in the caves, for a joyful spit (of wit).
They’d relish ripe fruits, and converse with great glee,
So happy together, for all the world to see.
Mother Yasoda would send them, with love in her heart,
Some fruits, sweetmeats, and yogurt-rice, set them quite apart.
On a stone slab by Yamuna, He’d call to His crew,
To share in the feast, His devotion so true.
(Chorus)
Krishna felt pleasure, in Govardhana’s sight,
The forest so verdant, a glorious light.
Yamuna’s bank, where the beehives would pour,
Sweet honey a stream, forever and more.
Waterfalls gushing, a beautiful sound,
In Govardhana’s caves, great comfort was found.
(Verse 3)
They watched the cows grazing, the calves and the bulls,
The cows a bit weary, with their milk bags like pools.
But chewing fresh grass, brought a happiness new,
And Krishna was pleased, by their peaceful view.
He was proud of the forest, in rainy season’s bloom,
A manifestation of His energy, dispelling all gloom.
He’d praise nature’s activities, in this special time,
For Bhagavad-Gita says, her actions are sublime.
(Bridge)
Nature is acting, beneath His command,
Like Durga, His shadow, throughout every land.
Whatever He orders, she does without fail,
So beauty in Vrndavan, tells a divine tale.
Krishna felt proud, of this beautiful show,
His energy blossoming, making Vrndavan glow.
(Outro)
